Image Validation Requirements
Warning
It is crucial to be aware of the maximum size limit for the request body. The maximum request size limit should not exceed 3MB. If the limit is exceeded, the application will return error 413.
Requirements for sending face images
Datavalid's Face Recognition module requires images that have a minimum resolution of 250 x 250 pixels. The service allows for the use of JPG, PNG, and PDF images. The accuracy index of the algorithm depends directly on the quality of the image sent.
The minimum resolution of 250 x 250 px applies specifically to the area containing the face image, not the entire image including any empty background.

About validation of images
Facial comparison is a probabilistic, non-deterministic operation, and the service user should use the values returned in the response to decide on the authenticity of the document sent.
Reference standard of face images
We suggest using the ICAO standard as the reference quality standard for the photos that will be sent to the service. In instances where the face images do not adhere to the ICAO standard, the service may not achieve its highest level of accuracy. Requests may be rejected by the Quality Checker or may produce results that are considered untrustworthy.

The following are some of the typical issues with face images that should be dealt with or remedied before sending them to the service.

Warning: Quality of the face image (selfie)
The image of the face (selfie) should be clear, without stains, with proper contrast and lighting. The quality of the face image is important for the result of the facial validation.
Proper color and resolution
Eyes must be shown
Face aligned
Proper background and framing
No flash effect or red eyes
No shadows
No lenses covering the eyes
No eyegalss rims covering your eyes
No hat
Face must be uncovered
Proportion between width and height
Attention: Proportion between height and width must be maintained
The height must be proportional to the width according to the proportions of the image of the face. Images should not be sent with the distorted aspect ratio. The examples below are not supported or may have an unreliable validation result.

Requirements for sending fingerprint images
The Datavalid Fingerprints Validation module requires images with a resolution of at least 500 DPI (dots per inch). We recommend using an image with dimensions of 640 x 600 pixels (height x width) before any cropping is done. ISO, JPG, PNG, or WSQ formats are supported.
